Like Bubba said, some of us on the forum like matching tartan ties with kilts and some of us are diametrically opposed to the idea.
I always thought that matching tartan ties look good. However I had read that they are not considered appropriate in Scotland and I was worried about seeming disrespectful to Scottish people if I told them that in America they are considered appropriate. Once I saw Sir Sean Connery wearing his, though I decided that rather than telling anyone "It's ok in America." I could tell them "Sean Connery does it."
Bubba says that Sir Sean Connery can get away with anything wearing whatever he likes. I would argue that Sir Connery is of such status that not only does it make it ok for him to dress as he pleases, but if he does it, it makes it ok for anyone else as well.
