Paul,
If you want I started a generic kilt thread here - http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...u-kilts-70638/
(of course Matts contributions are more than welcomed there too )

Paul, I don't mind the pictures here. Some of my clients are getting 6 yard kilts and your photos will give them a better idea of what to expect.
I'm about half way through the pleats on a 6 yard kilt pleated to the mystery stripe right now.

Matt, you are my hero, and the official Man of the Hour for the rest of the week.
Many, many thanks are in order for this picture you have posted.
May you be eaten first, along with the rest of Us.
EDIT: Matt has very kindly given me word that the first of several kilts that should not be, is finished. Based on the ammount of time it usually takes for something to get from there to here, I can expect it as early as Tuesday. Ia!

Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
A few "sneak preview" pics of the first kilt completed in this tartan. As you can see from the above "in progress" photos, the recipient chose to have it pleated to the "mystery tartan." I can honestly say that the most difficult aspect of making this kilt was pressing it. It was nigh impossible to distinguish between the wide dark stripe and the only-slightly-less-dark green background when I had the kilt laid out on my ironing board -- even with it being under a strong craft light!
The only saving grace is my knowledge that if it was that hard for me to see when I was pressing the kilt, it should also be hard to see any mistake I may have made! :-)
This is a six-yard box pleated kilt. Without further delay....

I think you've just made my decision on how I'm going to pleat mine, when I get to making it.... (got the practice one to get out of the way, first)

Re: R'lyeh Sett Jonesin' Thread...
Ok, so my Jones is over. I'm a happy man.
But more importantly, Matt made one heck of an interesting kilt! I love the choice I made on the pleating, both in terms of the stripe used (sorry Matt) and the style of kilt.
And Matt's managed to do it again... by which I mean make a kilt that fits perfectly. Yeah yeah, I suppose it's a kilt maker's job to go by the measurements, but how he can make two (or in this case, essentially, FOUR) kilts EXACTLY the same size is beyond me... I mean, we have to be talking about differences of much less than 1/8th of an inch, here.
Ia!
