Just wanted to tell everyone about my furry new friend! My parents bought a new cat today so, while I am staying at home, she will be my cat too She is gorgeous and super kind.
My dog passed away about 3 years ago so it took awhile for us to be able to open our home up to another pet. My dad finally caved in and let my mom pick out a cat at the shelter today. She saw this gorgeous yellow cat sleeping in a cage out of sight from the other cages and knelt down to see her. The cat woke up, walked over to the door of the cage and stuck her little paw through the bars. My mom took her into the little play room and the cat licked both her face and my dads face. Our new cat was certainly found. She picked us
Anyway, shes home now and shes getting used to the rooms. We have 3 floors so she has a big adventure ahead of her and shes pretty scared and skittish still. I can happily say that she likes my room the best But I think thats only because I have a porch door in my room so she likes to lay down on the ground and look at the outside. We'll see if she sleeps with me tonight I hope so.
Shes not declawed becuase I was pretty adament about keeping her claws. However, she started scratching my carpet which is not ok. We got her a scratching post so hopefully she will get used to that soon. I dont want to yell at her while shes new and skiddish so I hope she finds the post soon and doesnt scratch up my carpet.
And finally, my mom and I are both big True Blood fans so we decided to name her Sookie Stackcat
So welcome to my home, little Sookie. I will post pictures as soon as I can
I actually found a video of her on the humane society website. This is her playing. Her old name at the shelter was Gypsy:

She is a very cute kitty. Merry Christmas to you and to her.
thank you! Shes amazingly sweet. She already snuggles up to me and my mom. If you make kissing noises, she rubs her face against our lips. She does a lot of head rubs against our faces. I love her a lot.

Good on ya', and welcome to Sookie. Her video is hilarious.
Our CameronCat (named Thistle) was also a rescue. He doesn't do paper bags...just walks by them with disdain. BUT he'll put you at serious risk if you happen to be a piece of string or ribbon on the floor.
Side note: Cat lovers will enjoy the animations done by Simon Tofield at www.simonscat.com. Hilarious, and often too true.
