    Progress report for F4T2.

Well, we held a similar non Charades event last evening with some of my sons' friends-----It was hilarious, informative and a very good time was had by all! So now I have 20 well briefed and er, well, almost, raring to go, "volunteer(ish)" pathfinders ready to encourage, persuade, cajole, lean on, black mail, threaten, and generally intimidate the multitude to come. The results so far? I could not possibly say!

    Re: Food For Thought

My experience with the Weegies has been pleasant, as it seems my neck of the woods is a popular place for expat Brits to retire.

On the eve of my 10 year wedding anniversary, I was assaulted by a couple who "broke the ice" by telling me they were both from Glasgow. I had a hard time with their accent, see, because it wasn't peppered with profanities (they were older, perhaps they were using profanities that had fallen out of fashion some time prior to the Crimean war).

After a short discussion, I was told I "did it guid" and my explanation of wearing the kilt as a public identifier of my involvement in the Highland Games was acceptable. I had also taken my time to dress very well (Argyle jacket, fitted gingham check shirt, ABF regimental tie), as I am as blown away that I was able to stay married for ten years or more is a milestone worthy of celebration.

From my experience, I'm going to bet it made their day to see someone dressed well in their National Dress - however I'm known to get completely lost on subtlety, even moreso when Scottish wit is involved.

I do generally like Glaswegian humour-

Did you hear about the fella from the Gorbals who broke into a builders yard, ate a load of bricks and cement, then was arrested by the polis?

    He's awa' now!

    Re: Food For Thought

Just what have I done! :shock

Never volunteer, so they used to say. They were right!

Well, everyone has been fantastic! 75 replies was my realistic target--------100 was a dream-----------110 was what I got! :shock

Now I have pages and pages and pages of answers to sort out into some sort of order! It could take some time!

I am reliably informed that nearly every kilted gentleman present, regardless of nationality, took the time to answer the questions and apparently, willingly! :shock

Thank you one and all. PHEW!

Every time this thread pops up, "Food for Thought," I think of roast grouse. Congratulations, Jock, and good luck going through all that.

    Jock,

Hmmmm... I think you would not make a very good politician. A good politician would not need any data. He/she would simply tell the people what they want to hear! <grin>

This is a lot of work and I'm sure the rabble will be most appreciative of your efforts. I just hope it is an enjoyable endeavor in the end.
    Cheers!

Jock, since this is a subject that may be of interest beyond the confines of the kilt forum, have you considered doing an article to be published elsewhere?

Well no, I had not. I am not sure that I see myself doing that. Mind you, you chaps have not seen the results of the answers yet, so let us not jump the gun!

Results will be in tomorrow, I think, it depends if I can get the figures to tally. They should, it ought to be dead easy, but blow me, to get the figures to add up to 110 for most of the questions, is a real bind! Ho hum, pass me that calculator and some valium!
