How to set up a survey question

I have looked around trying to find out how to set up a survey type question but have been unable so far to find the information I need. One of the current threads under the title "Sempre Fi" involves asking folks about military service. I had hoped to be able to set up a similar question with a list of service branches the members could just check off. Help?!

Re: How to set up a survey question

The feature you are looking for is called a Poll.

When you wish to start a thread with a poll you begin just as you would for any other thread. Open a new thread box and enter the text explaining what your poll is about.

Then, before you hit the submit button scroll down to just under the text box and you should see a blue bar with the 'additional options'.

This is where you should find to poll options.

The way polls are done is sort of backwards from how you would do it on paper so some pre-planning is a good idea.

On a piece of paper write down you poll questions.
    1) Write down the poll question you wish to ask.
    2) Figure our how may options you want to choose from. (A yes or no answer to the poll is two options.
    3) write down the wording for the poll options.

This way when you finish writing your explainitory text you already know what the poll questions will be and you can word it the way you want.

Then, when you are ready scroll down to the additional option and enter your poll questions.

    Then hit submit.

The 'How to do it' I don't know.

But however you choose, I would urge you to remember the following:

This is an international forum and we have members who were, or still are, in foreign services.

"They also serve, who stand and wait." Some members have rendered service to their respective countries in a non-military capacity.

    No one should be forgotten.

    Regards

    Chas

Thank you so much for the detailed instructions. I will try to set something up soon.

Thanks, I am in absolute and full agreement and will indeed (if successful in being able to set something up) make sure everyone who wishes is invited and encouraged to participate.

Re: How to set up a survey question

Unfortunatly you can only have up to 10 options. I never served militarily but I have served in a voluntarily capacity, 5 years as a firefighter and 12 years as Canadian Coast Guard. Here in Canada the Coast Guard is not military but public service primarly marine search & rescue (the newly renamed RCAF provides the air SAR aspect). There, that's now 3 options you don't have to use up and still found the info.
