Attn: Kilted Runners

I'm running in my first race (just a 5k) and I am tempted to kilt up in my throwing kilt.
But I'm curious, do girls ever run kilted?
It's just a normal run, benefitting a few high schools. I glanced at least years pics and everyone just seemed to be in plain old running clothes.
I don't mind starting a trend, but I'll most likely be the "Why's that slow old lady in a skirt" chick.

Why be plain, I say go for it and enjoy being unique. Ive found it much harder in life trying to fit into the 'norm' than just being myself. This includes wearing kilts.

Loads of women run in running skorts so I don't imagine the kilt is much different, unless the length is near the knees. But go for it.

At different events, I've seen ladies running in many things: in tennis skirts, in kilts, in wedding dresses, and in terror (amazingly, those last two were not occurring simultaneously). One of my running pals just bought her own kilt for mud runs. You should do it!

As to your final concern, just avoid engaging anyone in conversation--no one will have a clue how very slow you are.

As a man who has ran several half marathons kilted in England and Scotland, I have seen more kilt wearing lady runners than kilt wearing male runners. Go for it I would say!

Go for it and have a great time !!! I run and do a little bit of coaching. You see people in all sorts of attire. Kilts work great and I've worn them a couple of times in runs.

Actually a lot of women run in what are called running kilts. Not true kilts in any sense, (they are much, much shorter than a true kilt, usually are about mid thigh or shorter). I can definitely say that I appreciate them wearing those things, but then again, I appreciate them in running shorts too. I usually change into a kilt after I run a race, much more comfortable than damp running shorts after the race, especially for the after race festivities, plus the ladies seem to like it. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/i...s/icon_lol.gif

I agree fully. I regularly see kilt wearing ladies in races. Far more so than kilt wearing men. I have run three marathons and more 5k races than I can count...I have seen hundreds of ladies in kilts in that time.

GGGP, I say go for it. I see plenty of women in skirts jogging and riding bikes. The skirts/kilts are much more flattering than tight shorts. Enjoy your run.
