True. And if done tastefully a kilt-wearer with limited resources who has not had time to save up for an heirloom sporran might be able to turn a bargain sporran into a very passable (and expensive-looking) evening sporran.
The "bad way to go" bit occurs when one creates a monstrosity such as this and then attempts to sell it for the price of a well-made, genuine sporran. Shame, shame...

True, but as long as someone is willing to buy...

"Full mask" sporrans are just fine, if you like that sort of thing.
...but when you think of the name "full mask", and why we lable sporrans such, wouldn't this properly be described as a "full @$$" sporran"?
Seriously.

Well said, this is why I started this thread... DIY is a good thing, however going to an extreme can have hideous results. This fellow could have done some research and could have had some very positive results.
By the way, for those who just hate this sporran because of the poor African endangered Zebras... here in Texas such game can be stocked and raised and are considered private property; no regulatory controls such as dedicated hunt seasons, etc. There are many "exotic wild game" ranches, here in Texas, that cater to safari like experiences. Guided hunts. I would venture to say that this Zebra is a "Texas ranch" animal.
