Might have to play with this technique. . . wonder how it might work if you printed "tartan" with an inkjet and then tried the transfer?

If I can find those ready-made transfers in the U.S., and my prone-to-problems nails cooperate, these might make their debut at our clan's Scotsman's Ball!
P.S. Found, not just "in the U.S." but right here in rainy San Diego -- tartan nails, here we come! Had to get some flamingos to practice with, of course. . .

If you do it yourself, one problem I have seen (from Mickey's fishing rod building experience) is that most home printers cannot print white or metallics. If you require those in your pattern at all, it is best to get your background paper that color rather than clear.
You also may need to experiment with different topcoats as some may cause your inks to smear.

My wife would love the tartan hose! And since she is a U.S. Marine, I would suspect she would have no trouble wearing the camo fingernails!
