    Re: Selvage images

Just for those that can't quite make it out, this is a piece of tuck selvedge Locah Carron Strome coming apart on my workbench so I can purl what had been the selvedge edge.

The first image shows, bottom left, my having cutaway the first L-R thread that was trapped in the tucked selvedge. On the right, running F-R was the cut edge of the cloth partly fringed, but with the short pieces (they are quite tenacious) still trapped at the edge.

The second image shows the short pieces of thread that make up the tucked selvedge removed.

If I knew in advance I was going to have my kilt nicked by something sharp, say a quarter inch radius half moon cut on the selvedge edge, I would expect a tuck selvedge to last for years without any maintenance at all, perhaps a spot of glue just to be sure.
