Pin & chain sporran fasteners
I got this new sporran for £36.49 free shipping. It is very sturdy and plenty of room inside.
What I want to do is change the press stud catch for a pin and chain fastener like this one below...
In brass if possible. Anyone know where I could purchase this type of fastener?
Edit: A UK supplier would be preffered.
Chris.

I've been looking for these too, and cannot find anything. I've tried leather outlets, purse making suppliers, etc. I'm down to thinking of using iron cut nails but haven't quite figured out the socket piece.
If anybody has a source, I'll pay a middleman fee!

Chris,
The sporran you've posted with the pin and chain is sold by Caledonian Creations. I'm sure if you contacted them, they could help.
Here is their web page with contact info.
I have one of their sporrans, and I love it. Very well built.
Regards,
Jim

Re: Pin & chain sporran fasteners
The pin would be very easy to make out of a piece of brass brazing rod
just aneal it and start filing
the catch stud could be made by bending brass rod into a U shape , inserting the two ends of the U into the sporran then use a flat piece with two holes drilled to match the U ; then peen them over or epoxy them in place

I have nothing but good to say about these sporrans and the maker.
