Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
You would think. But it seems that during daylight, the polarization helps with glare but at night, the glasses cause glare with the headlights.

I've noticed the same thing when wearing a pair of polarized safety glasses when working on a farm. However, since I am moving at the break neck speef of a combine the problem hasn't really bothered me too much.
My father-in-law explained why it happens to me one day, but since I was talking to a man with a PHD in physics about light wave theory I was quickly lost in a sea of words with too many syllables. I do recall though that it had something to do with the difference between sunlight being a diffused light source and headlights, street light, etc being a focused light beam.

I wear a set of Nike that have interchangable shields that let me change from sun to night/shooting glasses since my photophobia also causes glare blindness at night. The nose piece is also removable to allow a perscription insert so I can have wrap around protection with trifocals.

I use Wily X glasses. I have had them for years and have always been pleased. I also use them as shooting glasses. Fantastic glasses with a ton of variety. Recommended for sure.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
I have Wiley X....the ones that change in sun and are clear at night....the auto change only lasts a couple years but by then they will just be my night glasses I leave in saddle bags all the time. I prefer my regular sunglasses during day...
in a pinch though a set of Bobsters work great...just have to keep in case when not used as the plastic lense scratches very easy. I have an old set I use when grinding in my garage as they are too scratched to wear at night.
A nice set of low priced shooting glasses (clear) work in a pinch as well and can be found at any Walmart or sporting goods store if out of town and lose or forget your night glasses...
my old school OAKLEY M-Frames are still the best of them all for day riding...those ones mentioned are almost exact copies.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Yelloow lenses are indeed a gimmick. However, try a pair of glasses with AMBER lenses and see what you think. Just buy a cheap pair for kicks and decide if you want to spring for a better pair for keeps. I was sold on amber lenses years ago when I realized it sharpened contrast, made opposition camo a moot point because you can still see the human outline and are useable day or night.
I honestly forget the name of the glasses I bought several years ago. They fit your description and cost about 100 bucks. I'll look at them later and re-post.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Oakley flakjacket or halfjacket sunglasses with interchangeable lenses have done me well for almost a decade and several cross continent motorcycle trips.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Interesting that this thread got bumped just recently... lol. I just received my new Crossbows last week.
These bad boys are mil. spec., safety lenses, anti-scratch, anti-fog, and can even survive a shotgun blast to the face! (Not that this tends to be a problem in rural Japan or anything.... lol.. But still...) I'm chuffed. Very well put together -- makes we want to go out & ride. Too bad it's cold & snowy... hehe

But please, do continue to contribute, folks. It's always good to have a resource with many different suggestions and product possibilities.

Re: Looking for motorcycle riding glasses
Hey CDNSushi, want a few extra pairs of those exact glasses? The Army issues em to us for free, I must have at least 10 pair that i have never used!!! (I personally prefer the ICE II Naro glasses due to my narrow face)
