Re: St. Patricks Day
Well,we kilties are making it a tradition to wear our kilts on Paddy`s day,its as valid as having parades or taking drink on the day-both of which were NOT Irish traditions until we imported them circa 1997 from the Irish Diaspora in America and now of course everyone thinks they were always the way.A traditional St Patrick`s day in Ireland was a day when pubs were closed and you attended mass, very exciting....

Re: St. Patricks Day
Madadh, I cought your reply to being kilted on St.Patti's day and saw you mention the parade walks in Baltimore and Harrisburg. I was born in Baltimore and would love to walk with my kilt in any St. Patti parade but I thought you had to be a member of the groups who march. Can you tell me how an Irishman who loves Ireland participate ?

Re: St. Patricks Day
If you are in either town come find the wolfhounds and we will get you either a hound to walk or you can help hold the banner. Either way you will be walking in the parade. All we ask is that you wait to do your celebrating until after the parade, and oh yes, you must return the hound to its owner.

Now, does anyone know what happens when you drink Guinness with a Laphroaig chaser? Or maybe that should be drink Laphroaig with a Guinness chaser.
One had darned well better be "allowed" to wear a kilt on St. Patty's day -- I am having a new one made in the Irish Country Tyrone tartan. Re: Guinness and Laphroaig -- Maybe Guinness and Bushmills (after-all, it is St. Patty's, not St. Jock's day). Just bought my first bottle of Laphroaig -- tastes a bit like medicine: "Oh nurse, can I have some more medicine!"

Oh watch it! You drink Bush and you'll be charged with being "from the North"....that's Protestant whisky! Jamesons or you'll be out on the street.
I know it's ridiculous but I've seen it happen...I prefer Bushmills to Jamesons but I'll never ask for it in a bar on the South Side. These folks will find any excuse to start a fight.

I think all 365 days out of the year are fair game lads.

Hmmm.... didn't know that -- I prefer Bushmills too (especially single malt) but Jameson has better commercials and as a "chaser" for Guiness -- who'd know the difference after a few? -- who'd know anything after a few!
