Re: Photos from our Burns Supper
Ah the Epistle To Colonel De Peyster!
Here Burns is talking about an ideal world - O what a canty world were it,
Would pain and care and sickness spare it; but the reality is somewhat different. All that roast beef and claret would not be experienced by those who could not afford it. They would not answer the "gratefu' prayer".
Read the whole poem in context.

Re: Photos from our Burns Supper
A wonderful selection of images, Matt, which clearly illustrate the high level of enjoyment of those fortunate enough to be there.
Alas, for the third successive year, I am having to miss a Burns Nicht celebration, but I have fresh haggis in the 'fridge and a malt (or three) in the cupboard so I will be having my own wee nod to The Bard on Wednesday. Imagine! A whole haggis to myself .......... Bliss!!
Take care,
Ham.
