Or, you could play this classic ukulele hit over and over until your kilt arrives ...

That is a great version of GB&U i totally cracked up on the vocals.
The Red Hot Chilli Pipers are real good at adapting the bagpipes to modern songs too. I ended up getting all their albums and the video "Blast". On a good sound system the video is goosebump city.

The Blast concert is on u-tube, in pieces, but the sound from DVD is a factor of ten better.

I spend a little time making sure I have hose to go with the new kilt, and sometimes shirts to go with the hose. I eventually forget when it's 'due', and then it's a nice surprise!

    Re: What do you do?

Interestingly, I didn't do anything while waiting for my Isle of Skye kilt except wait.

When it arrived I wore it with hose, shirt, and necktie which had been in the closet for years.

I did buy a couple kilt jackets after the kilt came, charcoal and green. I only had had a black Argyll jacket, and I was inspired by some photos I'd seen here of Isle of Skye kilts worn with tweed.

It was a different matter a few years ago when a different kilt was on order (muted Drummond of Perth). I actually ordered a custom sporran from Nichol Brothers, designed to go with the kilt, and put a bit of thought into other accessories as well. It was a reaction to finally getting a kilt of strong colours, after wearing Black Watch for several years, with a very dark muted outfit.

    Re: What do you do?

I suggest you enjoy the waiting. The kilt will arrive one day you will enjoy it immensely but be forewarned it will not be long before you are eying another tartan and maybe another sporran and hose and of course that tweed jacket you saw the other day would go so well with the new tartan and that will come one day and soon after that you will be scheming on just how you are going to convince your partner how much you need that Isle of Sky kilt (It is no longer a want...it is a need). You will get it then with a sudden jolt you will realize you are hooked and there is no turning back.
Tis a bad bad addiction and I have never known any man who was able to overcome that addiction.
Good luck my friend. It is a happy but obsessive path we tread.

    Re: What do you do?

Ok ... yesterday I ordered 3 sets of hose (bottle green, lovat green & maroon). I still have that empty feelin in my heart where my kilt should be. I hear so many say kilting is addictive. I see it more like a lifestyle choice. If it was addictive, I would not be able to stop. I know I can stop any time I want.

    Re: What do you do?

Get a good collection of sporrans and belts lined up.

After that, learn to play the riff and solo from BOC's 1976 hit, The Reaper.

Your kilt will be there before you know it.

...and if you really think you can stop any time you want, I've got a lovely piece of ocean front property in Montana to sell you.

    Re: What do you do?

Ukuleles!!!!! Excellent - just back from Hawaii with food to fuel another apparent addiction - two Lanakais, a pineapple soprano and a tenor. They'll go nicely with the two poi dog baritones I already have.

Here ya go, shown against the backdrop of the Sportkilt Hawaiian tartan that served me so well there..

(since I've already learned from the fine rabble that hangs about here that it didn't happen without a picture)

The ukulele, ( /ˌjuːkəˈleɪliː/ ew-kə-lay-lee;[1] from Hawaiian: ʻukulele [ˈʔukuˈlɛlɛ]; variantly spelled ukelele in the UK), sometimes abbreviated to uke; is a not part of the guitar family; rather it is in a group of indigenous Hawaiian instruments. It generally employs four nylon or gut strings or four courses of strings.
