P/V for warrior dash?
I would just like to know anyones opinion on wearing a P/V kilt during this type of sporting event. Anyone who has ever participated should know how filthy and muddy this is.
I wore a stillwater casual last year and it served its purpose well. However, as time went on and I became more educated in how to wear a kilt, I took a disliking to acrylic kilts. This is only my opinion and I respect Stillwater for what they offer. A few reasons why I'd rather not wear it: 1) its flammable, 2) its off the rack and sits either too high on my waist or below my knees, 3) i wore the hell out of it and it badly pilled and the pleats are shot.
Would any of you wear your custom p/v to the event? What risk do I run getting it that dirty? It is a somewhat expensive item, and any other time I'd say hell with that, gimme a 10$ pair of shorts. Your thoughts?
Eric

I seem to recall reading a thread where someone took a pv kilt through exactly the course you mention. It was complete with photos of competitor and kilt all one color, MUD. The gift of the post was that the kilt came through in good shape. If anyone can post a link........

I believe the mill coats PV with Teflon. They wash up easily in the washer. I'd hose the mud off first so as not to cause problems with the washer. Don't see any problems - go for it.

I have done the Warrior Dash in a kilt (also a cheap one from Stillwater Kilts). I wouldn't chance damaging a more expensive kilt in this sort of activity.

The PV worked wonderfully, but I would recommend you take azwilcat96's advice into account, also. Anytime you're out there running through the mud and sticks and rocks, there will always be a chance of catching the kilt just wrong and tearing it. The PV is very sturdy, so mine is still completely free of damage, but I certainly can't make any bulletproof assurances. Just weigh your options and priorities and have fun!

I love this picture, Rob. You look surprised and horrified at the mess. I know you're no shrinking violet, I'm just always amused at the (often inaccurate) stories single images create.
