Feasgar math to all my fellow members!
It's taken me 18 months to make my first post but I really want to express my gratitude to those less reticent than me. This is a great resource and there is a tremendous amount of accumulated knowledge here on all things clan and tartan-related.

I'm a proud Hebridean Gael currently hanging my hat in Edinburgh but have given my kilts an airing in places as far afield as Poland, St Petersburg, New York and Paris inter alia when the occasion demanded.
I recently spent New Year in the mountains of the former Soviet Republic of Georgia and, after lengthy debate, failed to bring a kilt with me due to luggage constraints. Big mistake! People the world over love to see us in our Highland finery and this site helps us to do it in a more tasteful and appropriate manner.
Burns Night last year found me kilted at a Scottish restaurant in London with a family friend with impeccable Hebridean roots but way too many years spent south of the border. I can't describe the mix of amusement and horror that I experienced when I realised that he was wearing his kilt back to front ie Richard Branson style.

Apparently he initially put it on the right way round and then his English wife told him he had it on back to front. He lacked the confidence to insist that he was right the first time.
