sorry to go off topic.
Parade rest is hands clasped behind the back. At ease, formally, is hands loosely clasped in front, similar to Zardoz's shot of funeral rest, though in relaxed terms, means just let them hang. But that was a while ago. Things may have changed now.
My apologies for not actually answering the question during my first post too. As to What To Do With Them, I think everyone has pretty much summed it up nicely... put something in them! Your girl's hand, a drink, cigar (if you don't partake... give it a shot and just don't light). Personally I would recommend Zardoz's second photo, though I can't say that I've had that particular luxury.. at least in a kilt.
And I tip my hat to Tobus and Copper... kudos to both of you for having the class to not let an initial minor disagreement turn into something ugly. Very good form!!

This may be a silly question to some. But it's a curiosity of mine none-the-less.
Thanks,

You'll get comfortable with hands not it pockets. And, you'll look better and be better for it. You can practice by holding a dram in one hand.

I'm forever folding my arms. Not sure why. Or maybe I am. Heck, I have no idea either way, and doubt that it matters.

Yes indeed, or one can always do what Prince Charles does with his left hand and his waistcoat!

Never put your hands in your pockets. If you trip an fall your face will take the brunt of the fall.

I am a Marine, and yes, I NEVER EVER dared to put our hands in our pockets!!! But, I was in uniform (even though I never did whilst in civies either, and still don't to this day), and I see nothing wrong with placing your left or right fingertips inside your waistcoat pocket, just as HRH Prince Charles does.
Cheers,
