Re: show me your favorite kilts
Here's my current favorite. Though it will be replaced by the product of the IOS yardage I just ordered to make a hand sewn.
Stillwater Heavyweight in Black Stewart.
"The Highland dress is essentially a 'free' dress, -- that is to say, a man's taste and circumstances must alone be permitted to decide when and where and how he should wear it... I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed." -- The Hon. Stuart Ruaidri Erskine, The Kilt & How to Wear It, 1901.

Re: show me your favorite kilts
I think our answers to this question can and will develop over time, right now I would say these are my favourites
My Royal Stewart, it was sewn up by Barb Tewksbury and is pleated to the stripe. I wore it the day I go married and my mother is a Stewart so for me it was an important tartan to have and one I constantly reach for when I go to get a kilt from the closet
Next I`d say is my Royal Naval Association kilt it was also sewn up by Barb and was woven by DC Dagliesh. I decided to get it after my Uncle passed away, I was named for him and he was in the Royal Navy during the war, it is also pleated to the line in this case the red white red line it really makes for a dramatic look.
Another favourite would be the Isle of Skye this one has been at the top of my list since I purchased it some years ago and was also handsewn this one was purchased from the Scottish Company in Toronto and is pleated to the sett
Those are my favourite 8 yard kilts as for 4 yard box pleated kilts I have 3 of those all hand sewn by Matt Newsome of those my favourite would be my Carolina tartan.

Re: show me your favorite kilts
Wonderful photos, gentlemen!
My favourites are always of Clan Macpherson tartans, naturally, since I am a Macpherson. However, I am also rather fond of the Clan Chattan tartan, and since the Clan Macpherson is one of the leading Highland clans that make up the Clan Chattan Confederation (don't tell a Mackintosh that! Haha!), it is quite appropriate for Macphersons to wear the Chattan sett at various times, or for certain occasions, if they so wish.
Photos to follow...

Re: show me your favorite kilts
Well, seeing as most people are picking their favorites (plural), rather than just one, I guess I'll pick two.
The first is my MacQuarrie modern 4 yard/13 oz wool, with matching waistcoat. This is my clan tartan and has become my go-to kilt. I wish it was heavier weight, but I got it for nothing on eBay and beggars can't be choosers. I like the outfit because it is a bit over the top, but still very classic and traditional.
The second is my New World Irish 8 yard heavyweight acrylic from the Frugal Corner. I designed this tartan, so it holds a special place in my heart. This is the outfit I wore to Toronto's St. Patrick's Parade and I feel like it embodies the diasporic, North American kilt ethos quite nicely:
- Justitia et fortitudo invincibilia sunt
- An t'arm breac dearg
