I have ties from much more expensive makers (Brooks Brothers, Izod, etc.) that have the exact same weave, it's just that theirs are finer. I suspect it has to do more with the size of the threads than their content as I believe these are 100% silk.
Gotcha - that makes sense. My neck and bow ties from Ben Silver and Brooks Brothers are very smooth, without any noticeable woven 'lines' that resemble something as large as corduroy. I may just stick with their (The Tie Bar) pocket squares if I decide to place an order with them - not sure though.
