I'm still waiting for some enterprising person to come up with a reasonable facsimilie of these particular hose. I love the black and grey, but grey and rifle/hunter green would be nice as well.

If only we could find an enterprising person.
In a previous thread, P/M Burgess's daughter (whose screen name i can;t remember) said that her mother, Mrs. Burgess, made the hose in the pictures.
I've got a trip to the yarn shop tomorrow. I'll see if they have any yarn in the aforementioned colors.

Re: PM John D. Burgess
My wife started on a pair inspired by his black/green/red striped hose but never finished them. :-(

Re: PM John D. Burgess

As I've pointed out before, those hose are in a pattern very similar to that of the regimental neckties of the Cameron Highlanders; too similar, in my opinion, to be coincidental.
(The green looks a bit too bluish in this particular photo.)

Re: PM John D. Burgess
I disagree, Richard. First, there is no yellow stripe in the hose at all. Second, the dark color in the hose appears to be black, not navy blue, as in the tie. (Admittedly it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish the two in photographs).
Moreover the arrangement of the colors in the hose is not the same as in the regimental tie.
The colors of his Ross Hunting tartan, however, are green, red and black, so I think it more likely that was the inspiration for the hose.

Hard to say what they're meant to coordinate with. What is for sure, though, is that they look nice with his Ross kilt AND his Cameron Highlanders tie.

Re: PM John D. Burgess
Richard,
The green is indeed bluish in colour, actually more like a teal. I own the same (Cameron Highlanders) necktie, made by Ben Silver.
Cheers,
