IIRC it was Sunset magazine that published an article many years ago about growing fruit inside a bottle. Short as I can make it, you place the bottle over the bloom while it will still fit through the neck and somehow secure bottle in place. Then spend the growing season adjusting the bottle so the ripening fruit doesn't touch the inside walls. They showed a pear, I believe, and when done you gently detach fruit, thoroughly wash, and fill the bottle with wine. Suppose you could do this with all sorts of fruit/veg/liquid combinations. Notice I say "you" -- while we have a prolific orange tree in the backyard, this project is way too labor intensive for me!
