Re: Why is it that soldiers are under represented?
All in all you will find very few people though in the military (despite our cracks at each other) who will not stand next to someone who raised there hand when the country asked for them
There is no question to that. Just because I won't wear their tartan does not mean that I will not support them no matter which branch of service they served in.

Ditto Drac!
BTW the first time I heard IED was on TV and I swear they said IUD. Stopped me cold for a few minutes trying to figure out how it could kill.

I enlisted because I already loved my country and all these years later I love my country more than I did then. And I am enormously proud of the men and women who serve today. Regardless of their branch of service. May they all come home safely.
And yes I do display Marine Corps decals and shirts and I wear the Leatherneck tartan with pride. I trained and fought with them and will never forget that. Semper Fi.
I too am a "Devil Doc" US Navy Corpsman FMF, but still haven't purchased my leatherneck tartan...I'm saving for my Navy Edzell next.

Re: Why is it that soldiers are under represented?
There is definitely a less "rah-rah! hurray for us!" ethos amongst Army veterans, as opposed to the Marine Corps. Not entirely sure why that is. Perhaps because such larger numbers have served in the Army, making them less of a distinctive group. Or maybe that Army operations are much more vast, and more "mundane" and workmanlike, than those of the more glamorous Marines.
At any rate, it is certainly a more subdued, quieter sort of pride with us Army types. And, it's not that battlefield efficiency, success - or heroics - is at all inferior in regards to the Army, as any casual glance at military history shows. It's just two different "cultures" I suppose.
But anyways, some of the coolest guys I ever worked with while in the service, were the Marine officers who were my classmates at Artillery school at Fort Sill. What a great (and hilarious!) bunch of fellows...!

Re: Why is it that soldiers are under represented?
One of my first kilts was from Alexis Malcolm. She had a USAF kilt on display. It was very large so she fixed up for me and I wear it a lot. She is a great person to work with.
Of the 30 years I have spent in the USAF and USAF Reserves, 15 have been on active duty. I don't have any plans to get out at this time, time will tell.

Re: Why is it that soldiers are under represented?
The first kilt I purchased was a SpoprtKilt PV in U.S. Navy (Edzell) tartan. I don't like the color of the blue, it is too light. I'm currently wearing a Stillwater Black Watch and saving pennies for either Firefighter or German-American from Rocky at USA Kilts. Maybe I should design a CPO tartan!

Chief,
Would you pair that with a "Goat" hair sporran?
Rondo
P.S. I like the Edzell a whole lot better than the Polaris.
