    Kilt Jacket for Outdoor Activities

I have worn a kilt most of my life for formal occasions. I have only recently started to wear it more casually. It has now become my standard weekend attire. However, I enjoy spending as much time as possible outdoors and have never felt that I found an outdoor jacket which looks good with a kilt and also effective protection from the challenges of Canadian weather.

It just hit me last night that I already own them. One of my other passions is fly fishing and I have several Wading Jackets designed to be worn with waders and allow wading up to your waist without soaking the bottom of the jacket. I used one on my walk this morning and it was perfect. The one in the picture is an old Fenwick waterproof breathable I have had for twenty years. I know I also have an old Barbour oilcloth one which I think would be very classy but I could not find it this morning, it must be at my fishing camp. These type of jackets are available at a wide range of prices and in a range of technical materials from companies like LL Bean, Cabela's, Patagonia etc. They lend themselves very well to layering to meet changing conditions.

Coincidentally, the hose in the picture are also wading related they are Browning wader socks intended to be worn over your knees inside waders. They are thick rugged and warm and I don't think make bad kilt hose at all for outdoor living.

Thought about this just yesterday when I saw wading jackets at a Columbia outlet store. Sadly, they had none in my size. Seeing this I'll need to start shopping around.

Re: Kilt Jacket for Outdoor Activities

Everyones comments are very kind but don't give me too much credit. This jacket and kilts have hung in my house for decades and never until last night did I think to wear them together. My wife is finding this all quite humourous. In over thirty years the only times I have ever really looked good is when she dressed me and now I am getting international recognition for something I came up with on my own.
