jimmy:As for the "itch factor"... there really is none.
sorry bro, but there IS an itch factor, maybe not for you , but for others there is. I have never been able to wear wool.it's a coarse fiber.I cant even wear fabric with a small percentage of wool in it.
and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Alot of the itch factor depends on the wool. Avoid the short fiber wool and stick with long fiber worsted. Although, some folks are alergic and there isn't anything that helps that.

yes I agree, some people have more sensitive skin. My wife could not wear wool next to her skin to save her life, but it doesn't bother me (thick skinned)
But of all the kilt materials, poly vis would have to be the least itchy.
I glad to say I don't have any "social problems" either and we all know the best way to avoid them, don't we!!

I made an 8 yard cotton kilt that's very comfortable in the warm weather. Granted, I have to press the pleats a bit more often than with the woll kilts, but it's not a big deal. The fabric stores don't carry poly/vis here or I'd try that too.
