Bethlehem's Celtic Classic & Genealogical Trip to Tinicum Twp
Hello, Pennsylvanians;
For 2012, I'm seriously considering a week-long trip to Tinicum Twp to work on my genealogy and attend the Celtic Classic Festival (CCF) in Bethlehem in late September. For the first part of the trip, I'm thinking of staying somewhere between Doylestown and the Vansant Airport (it's close to the cemetery I want to visit).
It looks like for the first part of the week a nice, clean B&B is the way to go. Any advice? Does anyone here attend the festival regularly? Is there a better event or time of the year to go? It look's like the CCF doesn't have a large clan gathering, but I saw on the website that Clan Buchanan had a convener there last year.
If you'd rather not express a public opinion, please PM me. Thanks for whatever advice you will give.

Not sure about B&B's but you might want to try the Braveheart Highland Pub: http://www.bravehearthighlandpub.com/index.asp
It's just south of town in Hellertown.

We go there every year (as vendors) and we're friendly with lots of the staff and organizers. This year is their 25th and we've actually designed a Celtic Classic tartan to commemorate the milestone.
If you're going to book a hotel in Bethlehem for that weekend, I'd book it immediately. They fill up FAST and this year there's also a 'homecoming' for one of the local colleges the same weekend. They'll REALLY fill up fast.
The area is very nice. I actually grew up in Perkasie, roughly 20 minutes from Tinicum Twp.

Jack, I've been there the last two years and loved it each time. It will be on my calendar for a few more years to come.
I don't think you'll be disappointed; plenty of fantastic music over three days; vendors out the wazoo; lots of food and drink; Highland activities, etc. It's one of the bigger Celtic events in the country. By all means, go!

Me thinks we should have dinner together at the Braveheart Pub on Saturday.

Jack,
Have worked at the Celtic Classic as a volunteer for the past 2 years. The Classic is highly recommended. You'll enjoy it. Let me know if there's a kilt night at Braveheart.

A Kilt Night on Saturday evening sounds just right! I'm in (as I'll be there whether anyone shows or not)!
