    Yes, those would work. I remember 3 different styles of 35 mm film canisters; I used to play with them when I was a kid. There is a rarely seen metal one with a screw-on lid, then there is a clear plastic type with a screw on lid, then there were the ubiquitous, black-plastic canisters with snap-on, gray lids. Although the colors may have varied in some brands.
    They would all probably work well. I suppose a hard-copper, plumbing tube, with a cap soldered on one end and the other cap left removable, might also work. I guess you could use a cork in one end, too.
    Perhaps even one of those test-tube-looking, glass or plastic cigar tubes might also work.

    I make my char-cloth in an Altoid tin, then use another one to carry it.

    I have found the best thing to make char cloth in for me is those tin cases that pellets come in for pellet guns. I love them because the screw-on lid is, well, screw-on.
