How to hang up a kilt?

Having just received my first kilt, I was wondering if there is a particular way to hang it in the closet. My two kilts from Hector Russel come with hanging loops on each side, so I assume that some kind of hooks would be used.

    Your experience is greatly appreciated.

I found that the loops never worked all that well. I ended up just cutting them off. I have a good quality skirt hangar (with rubber tipped clamps) I use for my heavyweight. The others will hang nicely from a wooden pants hanger with the kilt quarter folded. The plastic pants hangers just don't seem to have the needed strength. I've thought about rigging up a hanger with some of the spring loaded "glue up" clamps available from the hardware store. Still working on that one.

    Clip 'em

I'm with Bear- forget those little loops. I work in retail, and have acquired 'Pinch Grip' hangers, the plastic ones. for my non-wool kilts, they work great. You could probably convince a lassie at your local Old Shnavy to drop a few in your bag.

For the wooly, check out larger department stores, chi-chi hardware/home centers or a similar place for cedar clip hangers. Strong clips with rubber teeth work great.
Of course, there's a website for that: www.hangersdirect.com (large quantities only).

I reverse-fold all mine to air them out, and keep the woolies in garment or dry-cleaner bags (dust & bugs begone!).

Anyone want to go in on a group buy of this style of hanger? Looks like it'll be sturdy enough to even handle Military Winter Weight kilts... http://www.hangersdirect.com/products/HD500501.shtml

yep long hangers with good grips, if it's too heavy, use 2 hangers, one on each side of the kilt, I seen this done in a kilt shop.
I also use a suit bag from the dollar store, keeps the dust off em.

I've used the loops sewn by Hector Russell for over a year.Together with a standard plastic hanger, with cutouts for skirt loops. Works fine. I roll my kilt for transport

Try one of those. They are what I use to hang my kilts.

Phil, I guess I never thought of that since I have a 32" waist, mine don't droop...
