While I retain reservations about white hose, they go very well with the white sweater.

It's the exact temper of bridle leather. So I'm betting that in the last stage of tanning they may have done some of the same oiling they'd do for bridle leather-

it is called "Hot Stuffing" and involves forcing oils and waxes back into the hides. These both preserve softness and help protect the leather from the elements.

It's not kilt related, so I haven't posted it on X-Marks, but I recently did a full harness ~1880's era Sam Brown with both shoulder straps and "holders" for various forum-restricted articles.

I've also done a number of kilt belt's with Sam Brown buckles.

Here's one, and I've got another in dye and burnishing right now.

I like the style so much, and make enough of them that I bought a LOT of buckles.

That was my thought, as well! That bracer I made you is veg tanned. All the veg I work with is fairly stiff. I use it to make belts, but I wouldn't describe it as supple- especially soft like bridle! Color me jealous of that hide.
