You're on to something here, Mark.
Taking inventory, I've had the work of as many as 8 or 9 different craftsmen that I knew by name on my person at one time, and it feels awesome. Like going back to a time when almost everything that people owned was either self made or made my by the guy down the street.
We need to have some kind of contest to see who can pile on the most different craftsmen at once, without looking ridiculous.

Re: Tyger's New Ryan Ross Bonnet
Tyger, I was down at the STM today: there's still a decent number of your buckles in stock from the looks of it, but I don't recall there being a whole lot of variety. As for the pins, I think everything was Pewter in color but there was somewhat of a variety in designs.
And, Ryan, aren't we supposed to look at least a little ridiculous?

For the purposes of the proposed contest, no; in general, absolutely.

There had been about 20 pins, mostly brass and bronze. ???????? I will check them out- thank you for the heads up.
Yes, I need to get more buckles made. I think they have 12 or so in the showcase. However, I am off on a tangent right now doing my sportsmans buckle/belt sets, and my oyster shell mosaics. Those tangents are killers!

Hmm, maybe they were...could be I'm mixing the colors up between the pins and buckles. One of the buckles stood out in my mind, as the plate looked to have had some sort of designed stamped all over it. Looked nice,r eally made it stand out from the others on display.

Some buckles have stamped backgrounds, others do not. I like both.
The non-stamped fields are a little less cluttered, and a bit more fancy I think. The stamped fields are a little more complex, almost confused to some extent in some (not all) designs, and to my eye have a more casual appearance. A couple of the buckles have backgrounds that are stamped with crosses, and I like that look too.
Hell, my business is being a diagnostician and scientist. I do this metalwork for fun, to profit the Museum, and to add something to the heritage that ain't made by a _____________. I sure as hell don't do it either for money, or for fame.
So many buckles, so few belts! I have about a dozen buckles that I swap out from day to day, depending on what I want at the time. The ones with stones are my favorites, I must confess.

The end, I hope, is that there is no end to the kind of work you and others like you do. A small-scale loop of production and appreciation. Your work generates its own joy...I would hope that it might interrupt the resonance and echo rather than amplifying it.
@Trog: A Sumi Gaseshi? A little sloppy, but the flock and the soak?
Did you remember to cite?

Unless we're talking about Sumi Gaeshi, and Judo has now become the topic of conversation, I'm completely lost.

Yes! No! Kinda! My dyslexia always gives me fits without a paid editor on hand. Hopefully you're not scabbing for her job.
That post was simply a public pick-me-up for my friend, LT. He is suffering from a temporary but significant health crunch, and I wanted to acknowledge what I thought was one of the funniest posts I've seen him make. The humor in it is very narrow and requires an hour to kill and an intimate knowlegde of the wrestling culture in Iowa. Not really worth explaining; sorry for being off topic.
Kind of on-topic: have you and Tyger considered teaming on a badge for your hats? A stylized RR for people with no clan affiliation and a desire to advertise their taste. Or is that too much?

Sorry to hear that LT is under the weather. Best wishes and hope to see him back here soon!
