Re: Having trouble with google finding Xmarks?
Here are two nice little sites (with a track-less search engine) that discusses how google and other engines skew results based on individual search histories.

I think it's funny they spend the entire time talking about some massive Google conspiracy...and then advocate the use of Chrome at the very end.

I haven't looked at the link yet artificer, but am confident that my issue wasn't related to search histories as I'm never (3-4 times a year) on Facebook and nearly always 3+ times a day on Xmarks.
However, it is easy to believe that Google would route people to those sites that they have a financial interest in, using some form of ranking that they felt best suited their goals.

I wouldn't imagine that to be it, as Google is in direct competition with Facebook.

Brooke: I trust you realize that I was just kidding.
Actually, I was a bit jealous that Facebook was not coming up as my first entry.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

No, I don't think that was your issue (and mine, when I tested it). I just thought the links might provide educational to those who are unaware of just what google is doing.

It's true! It's true! I check XMTS several times a day, trying to keep up with all the new threads. Just thinking web sites have a way to keep track of IP addresses of any visitor, so I should confess.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Another engine which claims to be a non-tracker and seems effective: http://duckduckgo.com/

Maybe I just spend too much time here.
Same here! No problems on my end.
