Re: Any XMTS members heading to Butte on St. Patrick's Day?
The parade is not to be missed!!
I just turned 37, and didn't ever attend while I was a "younger drunker" student at MSU. Last year was my first time ever in Butte, America on "Irish New Years". This year, I'll have my wife and kids in tow.
I believe Anaconda's parade is noon-ish, so we may head over the hill for that parade, and then back to uptown Butte for the afternoon.
The Celtic dancing competitions are at the Civic Center and start at 6pm.
Is it a traditional Celtic event? No way.
Is it a huge celebration of ethnic pride with Butte's own flair? Absolutely!!
I cut waaay back on my alcohol consumption in the past year, and still plan to have a great time. I'll tip a pint or two and stuff my face with some wonderful Butte pasties.
I will PM you my cell # if you decide to head up that way.

I hope you post photos. The last time I was in Butte I was about 8 years old. There were "blanket Indians" standing on the street corners and the open pit mine was the biggest feature in town. I would love to see how it looks today and especially with a lot of jolly people celebrating St. Patty's Day.
