Don't be so down on yourself. Most of us very likely started with "only one" kilt. Besides, you made it yourself. My first one was store-bought. So, you're already ahead of the game.

Ah, yes. They are so much more comfortable indeed. As for investing in a kilt, I'll just relay the advice I've received. Be aware that you get what you pay for. Also, there are lots of tartans woven in Pakistan. So, shop with eyes wide open.
Other than that, I'd say you're off to a great start.
