I've heard of other great finds there, but this is the best. Where exactly is this in Philadelphia Rocky? I think this is a direct karmic repurcussion of your offering a Weathered green Scott kilt at cost in my size the very week I was looking for one! A bit delayed, but sometimes such things are difficult to arrange!

Fabric Row is a couple blocks off South Street. I've looked through the stores dozens of times over the last 9 years and this is the FIRST time I've seen a piece of real Scottish woven tartan. There are lots of tartans (registered and "fashion") there, but never seen anything this good. It's usually cotton blends, flannel, 'banket weight' wool, and loosely woven stuff.

Here's a few pic of it in progress:

Some of you can tell from the pics that I made the pleats in the reverse Kingussie pleating style. After making the kilt, I remembered why I wouldn't do this pleating style again (I made one years ago and had forgotten why I hated making it... sewing half the kilt backwards and ironing half the kilt backwards is a PAIN!). Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the pics!

    Rocky,

What a beautiful kilt. We all always love to see the work in progress.
And yeah, I would love scraps.

May I enquire why you chose the reverse Kingussie style? I have seen it referred to on this site before and always wondered precisly what it was. I not quite sure what the "reverse' means . I assume the pleats running east and west fom the rear central box pleat are pleated reverse to the normal Kingussie pleats but I find it hard to see in my mind's eye, can you kindly provide a close up of the pleats running both sides of the rear box pleat? BTW great looking kilt in that tartan
