Thanks for all the advice. I decided to go for Gordon Nicholson, and I'm just back from my fitting for my new Ulster Modern kilt.
Although I will have to wait to see the finished product, I can't recommend this place enough. Gordon was very helpful and friendly, explaining everything I needed to know.

Turns out I've always been wearing my kilt a bit too low, which is good to know for the future!

Well done! Be sure to post a few photos when it's all said and done, mate.

    Cheers,

It is something that people often do, but is easily rectified. I think it does require just a bit of confidence to start with, to wear your kilt higher than you have in the past, but a new kilt should give you that bit of extra boost to do so.

If you're close by and can walk into their showroom to ask, I would have no hesitation, but it's taught me to work with people closer at hand, which is a shame for CCC since they really do marvellous work.
Well... scratch that. When it started to stretch I took it to John at Keltoi who opened it out. There was some work missing inside, and John fixed it up last week. His assessment was that they did a good job and then finished it off in a hurry. Not impressed with them; very impressed with John.
