    Favourites

Those of us with "modern kilts
have all voiced our preferences for favourites, bu twe have not heard a lot about traditioal kilt makers. For those of you with traditioanl kilts, who did you get it from, was a good product, good service, etc.

Let us know, as I have not heard too much about some of the traditional kilt makers.

The one kilt I bought I got from Scottishkilts.net. I'm very satisfied with it and the service was second to none. Excellent company to do business with.

I obtained my traditional kilt, which is in a very rare tartan (Devon Original), from McCalman Kilts.

    http://www.mccalman-kilts.co.uk/

The service I received from the proprietor (Laura Hepplewhite) was exemplary. She had to find a weaver who was prepared to weave an 8 yard length of the cloth (in 15oz). The quality of the finished kilt is excellent and the price was very reasonable. I have heard from a guy who bought his kilt (also in Devon Original) from McCalman Kilts, and he told me that when he wore it in a branch of Hector Russell, they enthused over the quality.

My Gunn,(Ancient Colours) kilt, tailored for me in 1973 is still as good as new - and boy, it has seen some action over the years - came from Alex Scott of Aberdeen. It was entirely a mail order transaction and everything was just perfect. They are still going strong.

Otherwise, my traditional kilts have come from Geoffrey (Tailor) Ltd. on Edinburgh's Royal Mile. Whom I would recommend to anyone looking for superb quality.

My first kilt came from these fine folks. This small town Nova Scotia kiltmaker does top quality work. Nice website too. Very nice people.

I also have traditional cut kilts from Lochcarron of Scotland and Cheapkilt.net. (Chris actually does quite a nice job for a very reasonable price).
I love the fit of a traditional kilt complete with rise. (Great back support.)

I have two kilts from www.mcrok.com at this time. The quality is fantastic, their selection is great, and the customer service was fantastic. My second one arrived at my door just 23 days after I placed my order.

I also ordered a kilt from www.irishkilts.net this is the same company as www.scottishkilts.net they also have a great selection, great prices and fantastic customer service.
www.scottishkilts.net now has a machine stitched 8 yard wool kilt available for (I think) $310. Sounds like a great deal.

    I highly recommend either company.

I got my trad 8 Yard modern Gunn from .Hector Russel their service is exellent. I met up and was measured.I thought that having no experience of Kilts before, this was the best coarse of action, and the kilt was sent to me within 12 weeks. Which when I saw the result was well worth the wait.
