Bravehearts.com tends to run hot and cold. This site however, see lots of chatter. It's been a real boost for those of us no longer "comfortable" with the topics being discussed these days at Tom's Cafe'.
A little town in SW WA state.
The kid gets all kinds of compliments and stares and has even had a a couple stare downs (all good so far, as he says no one would want to get in a fight with a kid in a skirt!)
He is pretty confident and wearing a kilt has made him even more so. I always chuckled when a few of the teenagers remarked on the BH forum that they weren't too sure about wearing a kilt to school, he wore his the first day of school this school year and hasn't looked back. As you can probably tell, he makes this father very proud.

If I read your post in one of the other threads correctly, you live in the Seattle part of the world.
Welcome to the forum. As Kilted John said, we are both in your general area.
Thanks for the welcome Vince (and to all the others). I am in the Seattle area for work, but reside near Oly. The more members there are in the W WA area the easier it'll be to do a kilt night or three.
Anyone in the Oly (or W WA) area is invited to come out to my son's 8th grade graduation on June 17th. He will be wearing his AK and will even be doing a short speech at the podium. There has been a hint about dress code issues from a couple members in the school staff, not necessarily his kilt in particular, no one mentioned it directly, but a dress code was implied and a certain attire or "look" was even suggested so all the kids look similar. You can imagine that raised the hackles on my neck a bit, so we are inviting anyone who wants to show up in a kilt to support him. It'll probably be boring for most, hell I didn't even know 8th graders had a grad ceremony (I didn't) but the support will make his day.

Hi T90 you've joined a lively board, I'm sure that you're all the support your son needs, good luck with ceremony.
Cheers Rhino

Hi Tim,
Welcome. It sounds like I'm just a bit South of you. I live in Battleground. Just North of the Columbia river and South of Mt. St. Helens.
Congratulations to your son and good luck with those veiled "dress code" threats. Don't know that I can show up to offer support, but what school is it? What time?

Nope, those of you familiar with SW WA or took map reading 101 in the army would reconize T90 as Tenino, the tiny little town we call home. Famous years back for it's sand stone that was been used in buildings all over the west coast and as the train approached the certain little stop on the rail line, the conductor called out Ten-Nine-O!

Tim! I can't belive I missed the reference! I'm very familiar with the T90 drill team, I've been selling a couple of them parts for years and seen them perform on many occasions and I still missed your call sign in spite of thhem using it as their logo. Boy, do I feel silly!

Yeah, it's one that'll get questions. Glad to hear our boys are giving you a little business.
