Thanks for the reminder. As a general rule, I tend to avoid animal product purchases when abroad as I'm never certain what customs will be in the mind to approve or disapprove. But there is always the chance I'll see the perfect fur sporran that I can't live without (and yes, I know about seal).

Seal is covered by the US Marine Mammals Protection Act, other species you should be concerned about can be found at:

and this one covers the FULL list, including "look-alike" species you should be careful of.

Additionally, as Kyle pointed out, there are certain species that will require a UK specific license which would not be listed here (potentially at-risk native species, or possibly those requiring a hunting license to take). Although I'd imagine any reputable retailer will have their info in order.
