Reverend Father, to this easily-amused mind, there is a bit of irony in enjoying membership in a forum which revels in the history, lore, display, proper accoutrements of...
...a perhaps somewhat arcane garment, the kilt...
...and simultaneously hearing "promotion-lite," of the metric system for temerature measurement. 'Woulda thought kilties in general would be equally or more receptive to yards, fingers, Fahrenheit, arshins, table spoons, cubits, lines, knight's fees, stones, furlongs and stadii...
...out now to walk the Scottish Terrier in the above referenced delightfully warm Fahrenheit degrees of metro Chicago...in a month named for a pagan god. Peace and love from a "not-entirely establishment-civilized-reformed" hippie.

Surely kilties would prefer to go with the more European metric system?

Not this one! Acres, chains, furlongs, yards, feet , inches, miles, pints, gallons, stones, pounds, ounces have done me perfectly well for quite a long time now, thank you.

I remember the first thing I had to do for homework in high school physics was figure out the speed of light in furlongs per fortnight.
