The F&W agent there tells me that normally they receive an email from FedEx calling their attention to any package needing F&W clearance. The agent had no such email. But he kindly gave me his contact within FedEx, and they conferenced in another person, who then got the FedEx Customer Advocate on the line.

While everyone was investigating, one proposed option discussed was that I could file a claim for the lost shipment. I explained that I would not be satisfied with that option, as the apparel in the shipment was all custom-made, taking a few months to produce, and that re-ordering would take an equal amount of time.

With all eyes looking into the situation seeing the same thing (that no scans had occurred since the package was logged in, it is now theorized that *IF* the physical box was actually scanned (and not just some bar-code on a clipboard), they would have someone physically look for the box, on the dock at Memphis. However, it was noted that if the last scan from 12:32AM a week ago, was actually just a scan of the paperwork... then it is possible the actual box never made it on to the plane... ergo, it may never have left Scotland.

So... while FedEx tries to get someone *on the dock* in Memphis to actually look for the box, the Customer Advocate is simultaniously looking into who she can call at FedEx UK, to spur similar physical inspection at the sending end.

I have insisted that I be given daily phone calls for status, indicating that either the shipment has been found and is on its way, or that they are still looking and have not yet found it. I indicated that noon, my local time, on Monday, will be my deadline.

I do have to say, that this was the most productive call to date.

I have already spoken once today with Scotweb (prior to this latest marathon call with FedEx), and we already have a game plan, should the package be sent back to (or in this case, possibly found to still be in) Scotland.

    So, the saga continues...
    You are more than welcome.

I told you the USF&W delay situation-thing seemed like BS to me. Shoes labeled as cowhide wouldn't even fall under their jurisdiction (unless a standard customs inspection raised suspicions of it being something else).

I guess any information is good information at this point - I certainly hope FedEx can retrieve their collective craniums from out of their collective back-sides and locate your shipment.

Keep us posted, fingers crossed here for you!

My package HAS BEEN FOUND... still in Scotland!

I am told that one of the labels fell off the box, and after physical inspection of the dock in the UK, they found it based on my description of the dimensions and weight of the package.

FedEx has offered to ship the package at no cost, and I should see it Monday or Tuesday.

Although happy the package has been found, I'm am very disappointed with the resistance, the attitude, the unwillingness of the people I and Scotweb had talked to on the phone throughout the week, that there was even a chance of an actual problem. The attitude of washing their hands and claiming Customs and F&W to be the problem, without any investigative effort, was infuriating.

Now that the shipment is finally on it's way... I'll actually get to watch all the bureaucratic delays a second time! Yippee! You can believe I'll be watching like a hawk. HOPEFULLY the next update to this thread will say "it's here!"

    Smile Finally!

My package is FINALLY in my hands!

Since I was at work, I missed the delivery attempt to my home this morning, but arranged to pick it up at the local FedEx facility on my way home from work. The kilt, the skirts, EVERYTHING has exceeded expectations! Lisa is going to love her skirts!

Let me say this to those who have followed this saga... I can not say enough about the assistance I got from Stewart (the retail sales manager) and his outstanding staff at Scotweb! Through their help with product selection, managing the orders, providing accurate dates for things being ready, and especially for the help in the fights with FedEx... Nick, if you are reading this, you have one hell of a crew!

The only two remaining items I'm still waiting on, are a Glengarry, and a Tam, to complete my order. (Desert, at the end of a seven-course meal.)

Yes, I know! I've been following the saga on a blow by blow basis, and we're as astonished as you are at just how badly it's been handled by the shipping agents... especially once it was clear that the ball had been badly dropped, which is when I'd expect any company to really pull the finger out and get the issue sorted. I'm really sorry you've been put through the ringer like this. But you can be sure we'll be taking it a lot further in making damn sure this won't happen again if Fedex wants to keep our business. But for now, let me just thank you for your amazing understanding and patience. Oh, and one more thing... Phew!! :-)
