Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

    I'm confused, not insulted.
I don't plan to let hearsay stir up my emotions, though.
Hope all come to an understanding together.

I think you may be right Bugbear. I googled for news articles with the school name and the word kilt for the last week. All I got was another article refering back to this one.

I'm trying to laugh about the whole idea of something like this becoming an international scandal, complete with the beating of cyber drums.

I might add that not every group considers proms, ie dancing, to be a respectable activity, in the first place. I have first hand experience of this...

I just don't know for sure who is saying what, and the back stories, etc.

Sounds so far the author is saying he said they said. An no local news media coverage. St. Louis may be conservative but the media should have been on this if there was any meat on the bone for this story.

The author of this particular blog is the son of a close family friend. I have no doubt that the information Mark is providing is accurate, given that he is his father's son. His father, God rest his soul, was the epitome of a gentleman.

Thanks for providing that information, Cajunscot, it's often difficult to figure out what is actually going on or who to listen to just from short articles and such.

This is the only comment out of all the comments following the article that claims independent personal observation.

I know Carruba and i know a lot of people think this is bad but before all this happen he was talking about wearing this kilt to be funny and making it a big joke, so i support the schools decision and I hope the school board denies him also.

If you are going to play the cultural diversity card, it needs to be constant and true to hold water.
One History teacher at the school also commented that all the facts were not known.

I read thru the school dress code which seems fairly strict. But it does have an exception clause to the code where for cultural, religious or other reasons a waiver can be grated. Sounds like one was never applied for in this case.

Too early to start a war, so far here.
CajunScot - Not to impune the author but I really hope he vetted his article on more than the word of the one kid who may be in a snit because his fun was spoiled.

No way to confirm or deny whether this is a bona fide observation, or some one trying to stir the pot. In contrast, I know Mark and can vouch for him.
