    Pockets

For those of you that find you are short on pocket space, I suggest a multi-pocket vest.

I have an Orvis Zambezi Travel Vest.

I love to wear a vest of some kind with a kilt, I think it looks good and does provide those extra pockets.

Multi-pocket vests, sold as gilets in the UK, are terrific when out hillwalking. Over here Regatta make good ones in a choice of colours, both lightweight for summer and padded for spring/autumn. Combined with a day-pack for the waterproof jacket, woollen jumper etc there's all the storage you need and lets you dispense with the sporran, which is just a b***** nuisance when out doing any serious hiking/hillwalking.
