Only memory and imagination?
What could be better? We remember the best and imagine we look even better! The only time I am forced to regard my own midsection ( which is the only time I do) is when I stay in a hotel, about once a year. In my memory, it is muscular and strong. It is that way in my imagination, too. But not in those pesky hotel mirrors.
I say imagine yourself down to the Jabot emporium and ask them for a MacPherson special, starched and pleated, light on the lace and heavy on the savoir faire. YOU are sure to impress whosoever you may encounter. I am pretty sure there have been discussions of stocks and other similar self-colored neckcloths, but to paraphrase Burns,
Those who know
prefer the jabot.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife

I love it! 'The Macpherson Special!' Oh, I must tell Cluny about that one! Haha!

Do you wave your jabot at truck drivers, MacLowlife.
That's too funny, and sadly, stuck in my mind and imagination, now.

Here's a quick question: what about a jabot in any colour other than white?

Don't have any pics, but in addition to an ivory one, I've occasionally worn one in black lace. Only with circa-1740s attire, though.

I seem to remember a discussion about the true silk jabots being a cream color; Spanish silk, if I recall.
* Perhaps it was Spanish silk lace. *
How about pin-stones for the neck area of the jabot?

I like to see the jabot in only ivory or white.

All right, what is the difference between ivory and white?
