If your not getting anywhere with your mum .Show her this site Especially all the talk in some posts about how long lasting they are.
If all else fails. sell her on E-bay and buy the kilt with the money you get
Ps If she reads this .I'm only joking.

There's one on the USAKilts site that doesn't necessarily show-up real well that's nice. It's called Shamrock. It's green and black, and is one fantastic material. Quite dark, but really nice when done-up in pleats. Worth a look if you're looking for something that's not a "name" tartan.
I guess I should check the site to see what they still have over there!

Tartan
You may want to take a look at Lamont Modern or maybe one of the Campbell Tatans.

I see that somebody has it bad. You'll love the 8 yards. Besides the future BW, what tartan are the other two kilts?

As this thread is for traditional kilts, I suppose I should say here that in spare moments I am working on a Bear Kilts Formal Cut kilt. (My version of a traditional kilt.)
I get asked all the time to make a Formal Cut, so I'm designing one.
The prototype will be in poly/viscose, (Black Stewart), but it will also be available in wool.
•Made entirely of poly/viscose, including the lining.
•Velcro instead of straps for a cleaner visual line.
•Goes up to the navel instead of just the waist.
•Pleats go all the way to the top of the kilt.
•Available in any of my poly/viscose or wool tartans.
Haven't worked out a price yet but it won't be too much more than my other cuts. There is some extra work to making a formal cut, so I'll have to pay my seamstresses more for each kilt.
I'll post this in the Bear Kilts section, too.

Bear, traditional kilts usually have the pleats sewn down so far from the waistband, you've siad yours pleats on the traditional cut will go to the top.
Are there any pro's or con's in this?
