Where can I get a blade for a dirk?

I need suggestions on sources for a dirk blade.

I am about to undertake my first DIY dirk. It will be for my 14 year old son and the gift represents a milestone in his journey to manhood. That is why I want to make it rather than purchase it completed. I have friends accomplished at wood work so the question is where to get the blade. All other suggestions welcome as well!

I believe that Atlanta Cutlery also offers a "Damascus" version of their dirk blade. More expensive of course, but it makes up into a nice knife. I also found out that their regular dirk blades are plated. Through a bit of carelessness, I left one in a damp location for an extended period (over a year). When I rediscovered the blade, I found considerable flaking and pitting of the plated surface. A quick couple of licks with a wire wheel removed the plating, and actually left a nice surface. I still haven't put a handle on that particular blade, but I'm considering browning it before I do. In fairness to Atlanta, I've used several of their dirk blades over the years, without a problem. Just be aware you can't store them in a swamp (or a frequently flooded shed).
I have a grandson who's already signed his papers to head to Parris Island this July, following his high school graduation. I have a nice big old horseshoe rasp in my forge supplies that's going to become a dirk blade for a graduation present.

Highland Horn offers a dirk blade made from stainless which looks very much like Sheffield Knives dirk blade. I have made one dirk using the blade and it was OK. However the fuller was not straight on one side. On the plus side, it was a lot less than the Sheffield blade so for a first attempt that might be the way to go.
