I feel, at least for those of us living in the states, that the southern name brings a feeling of friendliness. That's what the south's known for. Of course this doesn't really apply to my international customers, of whom are the most memorable.

Unfortunately, I think the context would be totally lost on non-Americans.

I think that Jimmy had some great words of wisdom for you Chris. Think about who your target market is, and brainstorm names from there. Jimmy had some great suggestions for marketing ideas.

    Jimm,

    Have you considered:

    Heart of Dixie Kilts

    Deep South Kilts

Or, since you might be headed to Tarheel Country, you could add the Confederate Memorial Tartan to your tartan list and do business as "The Kilted Confederate", Confederate Kilts or CSA Kilts

Confederate or CSA might be offensive to quite a number of potential customers. That idea crossed my mind too but I know too many people up north here get bent out of shape and all PC over mere mention of the Confederacy or anything connected with it. I still think Caledonia Kilts is good. Refers to the heritage and origins and isn't to locality specific for most folks.

I agree it conjures up images of six packs, and pick-ups with gun racks here in Europe.

i do agree a 'regional' name is not overly conducive to international trade, so.... how about

    worldkilts.com
    earthkilt.com
    earthkilts.com
    pleatedpub.com (really, just kidding )
    kiltme.com
    kiltish.com
    kiltedmen.com

food for thought they all appear to be available

As an UnReconstructed Confederate and an active member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, I say, "Let auld Clotie fli 'wae wi' 'em!!!!"

Then again, I'm not trying to make a living selling stuff to ignorant Yankees who make themselves pains to their more intelligent neighbors as well as to Southrons.

Well Doc, as a descendent of a Confederate officer from SC I sure don't get all bent out of shape over it, but building a company image unfortunately requires awareness of such silly things. Some people take political correctness seriously.

Like I said, I'm not trying to make a living selling stuff to Politically Correct Morons. I'd probably go broke, Political Correctness is not my strong suit.
