Today I was at the opening of the new location of an old kung fu school in Hong Kong. The master there is a friend of one of my kung fu teachers. I was playing cymbals in the percussion ensemble that accompanied a lion dance, which was doing a sort of blessing ritual for the place. This is one type of martial music, while a regimental pipe band would be another.

I like to listen while I am on the computer. I go to itunes, golden oldies and pull up one of 2 stations depending on my mood. Either "forever Fifties" or "Classic Country". I am stuck in the 50s and 60s when it comes to my music.

Anything that you might hear out on the drill field while marching or during a parade. Regimental pipes, J.P. Sousa, drum and bugle corps, that sort of thing. Always runs a bit of a shiver up my back and gets the blood moving. I love it.
