I would expect the low camera angle would be good for showing off the kilt. And a very good piece of work to show off at that. Looks great and thank you for all the progress photos.

The apron looks fine to me. I can only see it in the first picture though. Good job man. Now you get to make another one.

Thanks everyone! The apron kicks out just a little a little bit at the deep pleat (you can sort of see it in the front view; it's not drastic, but after poking around the various threads about apron behavior here I can see how more shaping and a deeper deep pleat would keep the apron in line there), and the edge doesn't hang back all the way to cover the underapron... but because everything is solid, dark black it's not as glaringly obvious as it would be with tartan. I haven't had it on long enough to get a sense of how it may settle in once I stop fussing and just wear it, or if tinkering with strap adjustments may help. I'll have to go walking tomorrow morning!

Just a follow-up for those who find this thread while thinking about making a kilt out of denim: Having started kilt #2 in 16oz. wool all I can say is: If you can possibly afford PV or wool for your first kilt, get it. It's so much nicer to work with on so many levels. It's got some give which is a huge help in lining up and stitching pleats, and it's so much easier to stitch through. And of course, it's much easier to keep pleats straight and even.

As for kilt #1, in addition to the narrow apron, I was either too stingy with my hip measurement or got measurably fatter since I started it last December. I got some good analysis in this thread.
