Are we eccentric? Sure, why not? Eccentric people are those who dare to be how they want to be, to do what they want to do. Albert Einstein was eccentric, but look how history views him. David Burn is eccentric, but he revolutionized (along with others like him) the modern music world.

The world needs more eccentricity. Otherwise, we would all be cookie-cutter versions of everyone else. Granted, sometimes it is difficult to stand out, but someone must!

A quote from the philosopher, Benny Hill:
Q: Why are you always scratching yourself?
A: Because I'm the only one who knows where it itches.

I've always been considered eccentric, odd, quirky, out there, call it what you will. I think it's because I never did value anyone's opinion as much as my own. (Who else could possibly know what I want?)
That's not to say I don't make mistakes. But they are my mistakes.

yes Rocky, I met Russell only recently after a long time hearing about a guy in our city who wears a kilt all the time, even to work.

He now attends our kilt nights, he's a very talented chap.
I'm hoping to encourage him to join the board, I'll look forward to seeing his new kilt.

Everyone is eccentric and different, and in some way weird to someone. Accept this fact of life and accept that you can't conform to everyone's expectations and we will be better off.

Even in a military formation, where everyone is "uniform".... same clothing, equipment, a standard of appearance, yet everyone is different and you can tell one person from the other. Skin tone, body build, hair cut or the manner in which they wear their uniform, all different.

It's the stamps and coins with flaws that are the most valuable.

    Slainte,

    Tobie

Nice to hear from you Al I was wondering where you'd got to.
One of my managers once said to me 'you're an enigma wrapped up in a paradox', but he was a psychologist so I ignored him
As for stages of kilt wearing, I wore mine when and where I liked immediately, mainly because I didn't know anyone might or would have a problem with them. Thats not to say I wasn't nervous sometimes, but it's the fear/excitement of wearing kilts that is also the fun bit. Like a lucky dip you never know whats going to happen, could be good could be bad, but it WON'T be boring.
Never did understand what the psychologist was blathering about
    Cheers Rhino

I'm still here, when time permits.

Looking at you, Rhino, I doubt anyone would risk arguing with you, though I imagine you're a bit of pussycat really - a Siberian Man-eating Tiger maybe?

I do have a controversial tendancy and play devil's advocate a lot. It's gonna get me in trouble one day.

I know what you mean, I've been let down by agency nurses twice in 24hrs meaning I've done a 38hr shift. I've come home in time to see my wife go out for a night shift which doesn't finish till tomorrow at 12.
It's gonna get me in trouble one day.
Glad to hear it. In trouble is where we belong
It's up to people like you to try to maintain the credibility of the police mate, I know sometimes it can't be easy.
    Cheers Rhino

Just in case no one figured that out there is a swear word filter and that word can be considered dirty here without the cat association. That is so all of you dont think Al is some wierdo. I also changed it in his original post so that the filter would let it by...
