Smoothing Off Rough Edges?
I have a new sporran of which the edge of the leather is rough and is rubbing against the kilt.
Is there a way to smooth off the edge of the leather?

Yeah you can burnish the edge so its smooth and slick.
1: Rub edge with a 180-200 grit sandpaper to get it even
2: moisten edge with a bit of water then get a piece of denim or canvas and rub the edge vigourously, really put a bit of effort into it. If you have a dremel you can wrap the the material about one of the heads and use that. The fibres of the leather will compress and begin to shine after a while.
3: get some beeswax and rub it on the edges, a little goes a long way, then rub with the material again to seal the edge.

Stilleto- do you have a FaceBook account? If so, I have posted a tutorial here:

And a word of advice... Never buy a sporran from said vendor again. If they didn't bother finishing the edges, it makes me wonder what other finishing details were left out.
