saw a kilt yesterday
So I was in a sorta hippie-ish part of D.C. yesterday, buying a new pennywhistle with my mom when we saw a guy walking around in a tan Amerikilt. I tried to point it out to my mom, but she completely missed it. Then I explained what I saw and why it was cool, which prompted her to say "I guess I'm just old fashioned. I think women should wear the s***s."

Good news, let's hope kilts are getting more popular in your area.

Hmmmmmmm.....I'm guessing you weren't too pleased with Mom's comment. Maybe she'll come around.

Maybe a response like " I do too, but men wear kilts" or "but only men should wear kilts" would help implant the idea they're two entirely different things. Worth a shot

Just remind her, every man wore kilt back in the day.

Ah yes! that "s" word again.
The only way we are going to rid us of this is to wear the kilt more often. So lets get out there. "Kilted."
And if women should wear the s****s why do they go around in pants.
Rant, rave, ¤¤¤¤&&&@@@§§§§§§!
Oh! It would help if the girls on this forum would tell their mates how great a man looks in a kilt.
Whenever you get the chance

Well she likes tartans (but she doesn't understand wearing them outside of a formal setting with the jacket and the hose and all that) at least. I don't think its worth the trouble to convert her. I'll buy a utili/amerikilt in college and then theres nothing she can do about it.

I agree with your mom to an extent. Too many women wear trousers. I would like to see more women wearing skirts (there, I used the 's' word ). Having said that, I would also like to see more men wearing male garments such as kilts.

A customer came by for a fitting yesterday. His wife came with him, "to make sure I buy the right thing."
She didn't understand why he didn't want to wear pants and made comments that led me to presume she wasn't thrilled with the idea of him in a kilt.
By the time she left, after I'd told her I was so busy making kilts for guys to wear on an everyday basis, just because they want to, she was excited about the idea.
She was gleefully helping pick out tartans, (MacDonald), sporran and belt colour, (brown), etc.
It was a 180 degree turnaround.
She made a comment that went something like, You men are so lucky. All you have to do is put on a kilt and your legs look great!"
I love to watch opinions change. I think I changed her mind with a confident attitude.
One at a time.
